She has recently self-published a watercolor manual, Simple Lessons in Watercolor
. Artist’s Statement: “Whether I am expressing a feeling of excitement or quietness, a sense of time or place, a particular mood or drama, I enjoy portraying light and shadow through watercolor, gouache and acrylics. The results can be both dramatic and surprising or calm and subtle. It is my goal to capture the essence of the composition on the painting surface to capture the viewer's attention."
Judy exhibits her work year round in local and regional competitions and art related venues. Judy’s original watermedia paintings are in many private and corporate collections. Mrs. Rider accepts commissions on fine and decorative art for your home or office. Her original artwork is available at the Hickory Museum of Art Gift Shop, Bottega, a Hickory area retail art and gift shop, and her website, www.judyarts.com
Judy's original paintings have been included in 3 National Watercolor Society International Open Competitions, 3 Southern Watercolor Society Exhibits, the NWS 2013 Members Exhibit, and numerous Watercolor Society of NC Juried Exhibitions, as well as many regional Art Competitions and Group and Individual Exhibits.
